After the series of Justin Bieber's racial slurs, it is clear that 2014 is the year the celeb got caught! In an age of digital photography and instantaneous content, celebrities scandals can trail blaze the internet with a single picture or hidden video. Whether its Solange's elevator antics or Zayn Malik's weed experimentations, this year has provided some outrageous celeb mishaps and we're only in June! Without further ado, Here are my top 5 celebrity scandals on camera:
5) Mimi and Nikko - Hot in Atlanta sex tape
Poor, poor stupid Mimi! After filming an organic looking moment of passion, boyfriend Nikko 'supposedly' lost the sex tape which just coincidently dropped into the hands of Vivid Entertainment. Now they have signed a deal worth six figures and have sold out lines of shower poles across the country.
4) Donald Sterling- Pot calling the kettle...oh wait
Donald Sterling, former owner of the LA Clippers, was heard spurting racial remarks about African Americans. Its one thing that comments were made by one of the highest profile men in the NBA, but the scandal had a greater significance as a majority of Clipper players were in fact African American. Racism can never be tolerated especially in Sport. With that, Sterling is now banned from the NBA for life and fined $2.5m, the maximum fine that has been imposed in the association's history. So the morale of the story: Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
3) Weed Direction- The 1D Boys dabble in their first line of scandal
Let's recap: Zayn and Louis from the tween sensation, one direction, are caught on camera smoking a joint for the first time. That's when it goes crazy! A huge backlash erupted from fans, parents and even fellow 1D members. Fans were seen burning their tickets to the 1D tour (even though majority had their parents cover the costs for them), while many questioned the boy's position as role models to young influential fans. Either way, the band is still selling out arenas, Simon Cowell is still raking in the coins and there has yet to be any official comment or accountability from the bandmates involved.
2) Justin Bieber
Another teen star embroiled in racism. It's a true shame about Bieber. Even though his music wasn't truly to my taste,I always respected him for his humble upbringing and solid grounding even among the media ruckus. This week, footage surfaced from his pre - mega-superstar days showing the star making a racist joke even to the extent of saying he wanted to join the KKK. However just to add, this occured on two seperate occasions...TWO! Although he has apologised and attributed the behaviour to his 'sheltered' lifestyle - racism is racism. He should just be happy that many are supporting him during this ordeal including 50 cent and founding mentor, Usher. If he can get over this one of many scandals that has plagued him over the past year, we might be able to appreciate the music- the only thing that should be on camera!
1) Solange v Jay-Z
The number one scandal of the year had to be the night of the Met Gala in NYC when Solange outshone her sister (for a change). We always thought Jay-Z had 99 problems, but in that elevator, Solange Knowles was the only one!
