Well you know what they say.....Kinky S&M Sex Sells!!
After the phenomenon of the 50 shades trilogy with over 31 million books sold worldwide, it is now time to think about Fifty Shades: THE MOVIE. Can we see the Twilight hype starting again!!!
I purchased the first Fifty Shades book a couple of weeks ago and pretty much couldn't put it down. My friends were the first to gasp when I admitted that I had bought the book. However after raving about how addictive this story has become, they grudgingly decided to buy a copy of the sordid book (probably out of curiosity)! At first I felt a tad bit self conscious when I started reading the book on the tube, looking around and desperately trying to pull the grey cover away from the eyes of wandering judgmental passengers. Of course I kept thinking that I would be perceived as the image below....
Anyway, I have almost finished the book, speeding crazily through chapters, desperate to find more. However I will give no spoilers away! I am someone who enjoys visualising in my mind the story as I'm reading. Though Fifty Shades can be at times repetitive in vocabulary with horrendous grammar, the only face that I cannot piece together specifically is Mr Christian Grey. With the announcement that there will be a film adaption of the world's favourite trilogy (sorry Twilight), it is time to decide who will play Anastasia and the Dominatrix, Christian Grey.
To be perfectly honest, I would prefer that Ana is played by an unknown actress. This scenario occurred with Kristen Stewart, who was generally unknown until she blew up in Twillight. However, I can see someone like Emma Stone playing Ana's strong willed best friend Katherine 'Kate' Kavanaugh.
Now for the big one (no pun intended)....Christian Grey
At the moment, several actors have been thrown into the ring to play the infamous Grey: Ryan Gosling, Matt Bomer, Ian Somerhalden and well Robert Patterson.
In my imagination, Grey has to have a stern while soft exterior with a mysterious flirtatious energy. While Ryan Gosling is favourite to get the role, I don't believe he has the complexity to bring the character to life. Furthermore, I view Gosling as rather short in height. Grey is portrayed as a tall, sexy man of power. So Although Gosling has the sexy image going, he doesn't tick the other boxes for me.

Now for my ideal choice, Matt Bomer. He's sexy, looks even hotter in a suit and has eyes that actually look a close shade of grey. If you have seen White Collar on the USA channel, you will see that he can play a mysterious but yet compassionate character as a con-man who wants to turn from his bad boy ways. While he is to me the only A-list actor who could actually take on the role, many doubt he would get it because of his open homosexuality. But it doesn't matter if he would prefer to spank a man instead of Ana while filming. Both Jake Gyllenhal and the late Heath Ledger played convincingly gay men in Brokeback Mountain. Though they were openly straight men, there was no disagreements over their casting.

Nevertheless, I would openly boycott this movie if Robert Patterson is cast for the role of the infamous character. Although E.L.James mirrored Fifty Shades after the Twillight trilogy, It would overshadow the success and bear more comparisons to Twillight if Patterson is cast.
Each reader has their own interpretation of Christian Grey and Ana Steele, however students at the university of Central Lancashire has used facial recognition software to depict how Mr Grey will look. Using features described in the book, they pieced together the face of Christian Grey (below). It may be in fifty shades of grey, but I think it's more shady than sexy!

But only time will tell who will be cast for the role. With themes of a heavy sexual nature and S&M, the film has no choice but to be rated over 18, which questions whether the film will ever replicate the success of Twillight without their Tween fanbase. So who do you want to play Christian and Ana? Tell me your truth below...
