Christian Bale visits Aurora shooting Victims

Batman star Christian Bale with Aurora Medical Center Staff who were inundated with casualties from Aurora Shootings.

Christian Bale, the lead in The Dark Knight Rises visited the victims of the Aurora shootings on Tuesday. This follows the mass shooting in a midnight screening of the film which left 12 dead and 58 injured. The main suspect, James Holmes, appeared in court on Monday.
Since the brutal attack, there has been an internet campaign to get the Dark Knight Rises stars to visit the victims. However Warner Bros, the studio that made the film, claimed that the actor visited on his own accord. Following the visit, he released a statement saying "Words cannot express the horror I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them".

During the visit which lasted over 2 hours, Christian and his wife visited a memorial set up outside the Denver movie theater. He also spoke to patients such as Carey Rottman (above) along with the Swedish medical Centre Staff at the Aurora Medical Centre who treated all victims who arrived. The patients, medical staff and many tweeters across the globe have expressed praise for the actor to take time to visit the victims. Carey Rottman who was shot in the leg, wrote on his Facebook page: "I am definitely nothing but love and am ready to get started on this recovery".

The film has so far raked in over $160 million in North America alone, breaking box office records for a 2D film.
