He can make careers, break careers and even revive dying ones. From the phenomenon of One Direction to making Britney relevant again as a judge on X Factor USA, he should never be underestimated in the music and TV industry.
His list of achievements are too long to write and recalling them may make his already ego filled head explode! But on the second anniversary of his new Boyband who has hit stratosphere in America, I thought it will only be right to commend the man who helped build and assemble the group into the modern day Beatles.
It is undeniable that his power has shook the industry, given that many worldwide single charts are dominated by majority of Cowell's protégés. I have been an avid fan of Idol and X Factor UK. Unlike other music reality shows, it seems like second and third place contestants become bigger stars than the winners themselves. This is the underlying story of 1D. People love the underdog and I believe Simon's underdog character has prompted him to promote the runner up's as much as the winner. And if all else fails, he assembles Supergroups from not-so-powerful soloists. In the UK, this risky trend occurred for many years, but it was until season 7 when this recipe hit the jackpot.
He may have not always had success but this producer is an entrepreneur and a source of inspiration. With the second season of X factor US starting this October, I am looking forward to finding the next great star in music.
